This landmark Birmingham building, just off St Phillips Churchyard, was fully refurbished by Ibex under a design and build contract in 2008. The building is part listed, part new build from a later period and was subject to Listed Building Consents and English Heritage issues as well as Planning Approvals as part of the refurbishment process under Ibex’s control. With 8 storey’s in the building, including 2 at basement level, internal works were carried out from ground floor level up to and including the 5th floor and were refurbished to a Cat A standard. Prior to internal works commencing though major re-configuration work and floor palte extensions were undertaken.
Structural and envelope works comprised:
-Lowering of the ground floor to create a level reception to the building.
-Extending each floor plate from 1st to 5th floor level.
-Replacement curtain walling to the new build façade.
-Re-roofing
-Creation of new openings in the listed half of the building.
-Creation of new lift openings
Internally, the works included:
-New mechanical and electrical services.
-New lift installation, after removal of the existing lift.
-Re-plastering all walls.
-Fitting out of new toilets.
-New ceiling installations, comprising plasterboards and tile.
-Decorations.
-Soft flooring comprising carpets and carpet tile.
-Reception fit-out
