This 11,000 square foot project involved the fit-out of the fifth floor, from Cat A status to Cat B status for Torus Insurance. Due to the client’s need to vacate their current office premises at the start of our contract period, we built a temporary, but fully functioning office space within the fifth floor demise to accommodate them during our contract works. This enabled them to continue with business as usual throughout the construction process and meant that we were required to provide the floor to the client in phased hand-overs.
Having several other main contractors on site working through out the building meant that careful planning and co-ordination was required with the building’s facility management to ensure that our programme and delivery schedules were achievable. Due to the building being fully occupied, exceptional care was taken to ensure that we did not affect the day-to-day business of the other occupants working throughout the other seven floors.
The work consisted of the installation new plasterboard walls and ceilings to create new cellular spaces, including offices, a new staff break out space, comms room, reception, boardroom and tea points to name a few. Significant changes were made to the lighting, air-conditioning systems, plumbing and electrics as well as the installation of new air-conditioning plant to the roof.
